Home Business Ideas Before The E
10 October 2011 | 1 Comment »It started over 30 years ago for me. The home business ideas started on a small scale and over the years grew until one day the dream finally took shape into the reality of answering to no one but myself. It started early though.
My First Home Business Ideas

I was in junior high school and I came across an ad for an opportunity to raise money for Jerry’s Kids. It was the 70′s and the idea of having a home based business was certainly not as popular then as it is now. I got together with a couple of friends, and with the outline of the mail order guide (early ebook before the e) we put together a backyard carnival for a day.
I was the main attraction (Kenny the Great) being the only magician in the neighborhood, my sister told fortunes, and my dog Patches performed various animal tricks to the delight of the huge crowd. Now my memory may be a bit off on the size of the crowd, and maybe even on the ability of my dog to perform more than one trick, but we did have a blast.
And since we all volunteered our time, my first ever home business idea was profitable. Of course, mom and dad contributed to the final tally allowing this first business venture to make a fair donation to our headlining charity.
In the years since, the thought of having a home based business has always been floating around upstairs. Sometimes in the fore front of the mind and sometimes more towards the back… but it has always been there. Looking back I would say that the one common denominator and piece of advice always noted by the gurus is absolutely true and will always be true. And that is… Never Give Up!
Never Give Up | Never Give In
One of my favorite books closely related to the subject, which I have read many times, is a study of Winston Churchill’s leadership skills by author Stephen Mansfield entitled “Never Give In, The Extraordinary Character of Winston Churchill”. Outlining the life of England’s brave knight, Mansfield looks at the leadership skills that allowed Churchill to do what very few others have ever succeeded at… stand for principal and prevail.
My favorite chapter is about the spoken word. As we all do, Churchill struggled with some challenges regarding speech and his inner self. I’m sure we can all relate with the same challenges and struggles often consuming our thoughts of failure and such. For me personally, never giving in to those thoughts or for that matter, the opinion and/or thoughts of others, is what has keep me on the path towards eventual success.
We all have to realize that while we may attain a success or two, the journey to the top never ends. Whether it’s your own home business ideas or even a simple desire to be the best spouse, or parent, or friend for that matter. Do whatever you have to do to keep going. These will be obstacles, but you can overcome them. And when things seem too challenging, remember Churchill… and Never Give In!
